Man Utd fans welcome arrival of Onana from Inter
Manchester United has been informed that Atalanta might have to consider selling their star striker Rasmus Hojlund as the Red Devils persist in their pursuit.
The Danish forward has been identified as the top choice for Manchester United to strengthen their attacking options. Although Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and Randal Kolo Muani have also been linked, they are deemed too costly.
Manchester United has already spent over £100m this summer to bolster their squad with the acquisitions of Mason Mount and Andre Onana. Hojlund is also not expected to come cheap.
While Atalanta boss Gian Pieri Gasperini has reiterated that they would only entertain the idea of selling Hojlund if a substantial offer is made, he hinted that both the club and the player have decisions to make.
When asked about a possible move, he responded: “Hojlund and Man United? Sometimes choices have to be made, and agents as well…
“We all have to consider the financial aspect. He’s very happy here, and naturally, I would love to keep Rasmus, but sometimes clubs and players have to consider lucrative offers.”

These latest developments emerged after Gasperini seemed to indicate a potential price tag for a transfer. Last week, the Italian stated: “He [Hojlund] undoubtedly possesses great talent, but there is also room for improvement.
“These qualities are apparent in both aspects, and he needs to work on improving because he has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world. I cannot predict if he will leave; the transfer market is unpredictable. I hope the club receives €80, 90, 100m for him.
“Transfer values are subject to change. However, among the emerging young players in his position, if not the best, he is certainly among the best in Europe.”
While Manchester United pursues a deal for Hojlund, former Red Devils striker Louis Saha remains unconvinced about the move. While praising Hojlund’s abilities, Saha has expressed a preference for Manchester United to sign a more experienced forward.
Hojlund is coming off an exceptional debut season with Atalanta, having scored ten goals and provided four assists since his arrival from Sturm Graz.
He still has four years remaining on his current contract with Atalanta. When asked about a move to Old Trafford in January, he said: “Now that you ask, I won’t hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan.
“So personally, it would be one of the greatest things for me, but of course, that doesn’t mean I would turn down offers from other big clubs if they come at some point.”
