Christian Horner, the boss of Red Bull, has stated that the team was “several million” below the F1 cost cap in 2022. This comes as the FIA continues to investigate the financial submissions from the teams last year. Red Bull was previously found guilty of a minor overspend in the 2021 campaign, resulting in a $7m fine and a reduction in wind tunnel time for the current season. However, reports suggesting that other teams breached the cost cap last year have been deemed unfounded. The cost cap was introduced in 2021, with a budget of $140m for the 2022 season. Horner also mentioned the limited wind tunnel time as a handicap for Red Bull this year. He emphasized the team’s focus on disciplined development within the constraints they face.
